Akshra is gifted but she has worked very hard to build up this incredible range and to sing in various styles and genres. She performs American classics at her school, she sings Jazz for her school’s Jazz band, she sings Blues and classic rock for School of Rock and hard rock for her band Distortion.

Original Music
Jazz
Chameleon is the highly respected Jazz Band at Newark Academy, a prestigious private school celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2024.
Akshra was selected as the lead singer for Chameleon early in her 11th grade in the school in the fall of 2023. This was Akshra’s first foray into Jazz singing. Akshra has already performed in several Jazz concerts and established her mark!
Solo Performances
Solo performances is where Akshra really shines!
Akshra started doing solo singing performances right in the elementary school and is now a leading performer in her school’s annual Cabaret program. She has performed challenging numbers such as “I will always remember us this way” by Lady Gaga and “Speechless” by Naomi Scott.
Choral Music
Akshra has been a member of the Choral music program at Newark Academy since 2021. Apart from being a veteran active participant, she is also a mentor to several participating students.
while Akshra is primarily a solo-singer, the Choral music program allows her to collaborate with other talented performers in a group setting.
School of Rock
Akshra has been singing with School of Rock since 2021 and was selected and toured for their prestigious “Allstars” band in 2023.
Akshra started with Chatham, New Jersey, branch of School of Rock in fall of 2021. She performed in her first seasonal show in the winter of 21/22 and made quite an impression with a powerful rendering of “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner. She was soon picked for the “Street Team” or “House Band” at Chatham School or Rock and in the early summer of 2023 she was selected in the “AllStars” program held by School of Rock for branches across the country and the world. She toured with the AllStar band throughout the great north and performed in 8 cities.
Akshra loves School of Rock and has performed over 30 times for them across the last two years.
Distortion band
Akshra joined a local independent hard-rocking band, Distortion, in the fall of 2022 as the lead vocalist.
Akshra started out with distortion in the fall of 2022. She has performed in over 15 events since then and sang over a hundred songs. Akshra particularly likes distortion because, apart from hanging out with her musically-inclined close friends, she gets to experiment with many musical styles at the same time. She can perform “Toxicity” by the heavy metal band System of a Down, “Landslide” by Dixie Chicks, and a classic like “Highway Star” sometimes all in the same show. She has performed in many venues, including the Springfield Presbyterian Church.
Akshra loves distortion and has helped write and sing many of their original songs as well.
